Your customers won't tell you what they actually need.

Stories will.

Every classic story runs on a hidden pattern.
So does every human being.

Data points are like a mirror. They can tell you your face is dirty, but they cannot wash it clean. Traditional metrics show you what people do, but they fail to explain why. Human behavior runs on an unspoken script: every surface "want" hides a deeper need, and every fear protects a hidden wound.

We rarely pursue what we actually need—we cling what protects our insecurities. Your customers, patients, and students do this every day. For centuries, storytellers have paid attention to capturing exactly this. This workshop familiarises you with how to read these hidden patterns through stories, so you can pause looking at metrics and start understanding people.

WHY STORIES?

HOW IT WORKS

This isn't a lecture. We watch a film together and pull it apart scene by scene — until you see exactly what makes people want, fear, and transform. Then we turn that same lens on your customers, clients, or even yourself.

We start by watching carefully curated cinematic scenes. Instead of just viewing, you will use classic screenwriting frameworks to strip away a character's surface actions and map their raw needs, wants, and fears.

Deconstruct the Character

1

Next, we pivot from the screen to your real-world arena. You will learn to swap the fictional character with your actual user, patient, or student—identifying the hidden scripts driving their real-world behaviors.

Translate the Pattern

2

Finally, you will turn these psychological insights into concrete action. You will leave with a precise narrative toolkit to redesign your product or service, rewrite your messaging, or reshape how you interact with the people who matter most to your organization.

Reframe the Story

3

The shift begins the moment you realize you are not the hero of the story—your client is. You are the guide they are looking for—the one who understands their story and earns their trust.

For all whose work depends on understanding their customer, employee, student or patient. Here are some scenarios drawn from the film Good Will Hunting.

WHO IS IT FOR

Business & Product

The Story: The hero is offered the one thing he's always wanted—a real chance at a future with someone who loves him, no strings attached. He turns it down flat, and lies about why.

The Empathetic Lens: Understanding the difference between what a character says they want versus their deep-seated need and insecurities.

The Real-World Translation: Stop building features your customers ask for, or that you think they need, only for them to churn anyway. Learn to build what they actually need, command higher pricing, and create fierce brand loyalty.

Education & Coaching

The Story: The professor sees a math prodigy who needs to be fixed and funnelled toward greatness — like a project. He fails. The boy opens up to someone else instead.

The Empathetic Lens: Tracking a character’s internal resistance, their defence mechanisms, and their ultimate arc of transformation.

The Real-World Translation: A defensive or disengaged student is a character stuck in conflict. Learn how to spot the underlying barriers, bypass their resistance, and win their attention, and inspire genuine learning.

Healthcare & Service

The Story: The hero gets defensive, mocks therapist's painting, and attacks his deceased wife’s memory during their very first therapy session to force him to quit on him.

The Empathetic Lens: Spotting the hidden wound behind the hostility that dictates a character’s defensive and destructive behaviour.

The Real-World Translation: People rarely admit to the fear or shame driving their non-compliance. Read the unsaid scripts to bypass their defences, build deep emotional trust, and significantly improve outcomes.
